Pel’s Post

Perched along the bank of the Luvuvhu River, Pel’s Post is a stunning and contemporary exclusive use camp; solar powered, eco-friendly and off grid. With space for eight, it’s a fabulous spot for families and small groups.

There are just four standalone luxurious rooms, each extremely spacious with state of the art remote-controlled retractable screens offering uninterrupted views of the Luvuvhu River. The open feel of the rooms extends into a lounge and outdoor terrace with a double daybed. Bathrooms have a free-standing bath and indoor and outdoor showers.

A raised walkway connects these to the main lodge area with its central lounge, dining area, swimming pool and focal bar, a wonderful communal space to spend evenings attended to by a personal chef and staff while sampling the superb collection of South African wines.

With a private vehicle and guide, the pace of your safari is entirely up to you. Choose to spend all day on a game drive with a picnic lunch under a baobab, capping it off with sundowners overlooking Lanner Gorge, learn about the local history and culture on village tours before standing in three countries at once in the middle of the Limpopo River, or simply take in the views from the pool.

Pafuri Camp

Pafuri Camp sits along the north bank of the Luvuvhu River, in the Makuleke Concession in the Kruger National Park’s far north.

This stylish camp has 19 luxury tents with en-suite bathrooms, expansive viewing decks, vast beds and outdoor showers. Seven are family tents with two additional single beds to the back of the tent.

All the rooms offer gorgeous views over the perennial Luvuvhu River, a vital source of water during the dry winter months, a vista shared with the dining area, swimming pool and bar.

Located in the remote northern extreme of the Kruger, the landscape is spectacular and unlike anything seen further south, a real wilderness shared with just a couple of other lodges. The river is flanked by thick vegetation and enchanted fever tree forests, giving way to more arid bush and rocky kopjes topped with tumescent Mopane trees. The nearby Lanner Gorge is also an unexpected highlight.

While game viewing may not be quite as prolific as in the south, the area still attracts vast numbers of nyala, elephant and abundant birdlife, as well as zebra, buffalo, kudu, eland, white rhino, leopard and lion. Walking safaris are a speciality of the camp, as are trip to discover the fascinating history and archaeology of the area.
