Located on the banks of the Nhlaralumi River in the heart of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, lies Simbavati River Lodge. This family run camp take its name from the local Shangaan language and means the place where the lions come down from the stars.
The Timbavati Reserve forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park and the lodge itself is surrounded by 12,000 acres of wilderness, teeming with wildlife. There are over 40 species of mammals in Timbavati, including the Big Five, and over 300 species of bird.
The camp consists of eight luxury tents and three thatched chalets, perfect for families. All are furnished and come with en suite facilities. Soak up the beautiful surroundings from your private deck, offering either bush or water views.
When you’re not out spotting wildlife, relax and unwind in the lounge or bar, which serves a great selection of South African wines, or take a dip in the swimming pool. The viewing deck overlooks the river, where wildlife sightings are common, and on balmy evenings you can enjoy dinner while watching the sun set over the African horizon.
