What are the best months for visiting Victoria Falls?

The best time to visit Victoria Falls to see them at their most impressive is between February and June when the water volume is highest after the rainy season. March to May in particular can be extremely dramatic when an average of 500 million litres of water powerfully cascades down every minute, with spray sometimes obscuring the falls altogether.

The best time to combine a visit to Victoria Falls with a safari across Zambia and Zimbabwe’s wildlife-rich national parks is between May and June. At this time, the falls are full and impressive and the rainy season (which runs from November to April) is ending, and the weather becomes dry and clear.

These conditions are best for wildlife spotting as the vegetation thins out, making it easier to spot animals, and the drier ground, with less mud, means jeeps can travel deeper into remote corners. Temperatures are pleasant too, with chilly mornings and midday highs of 25°C (77°F). Later in the year between October and December, temperatures will heat up, exceeding 30°C.
