Days 1–2

With its blend of European architecture and African vibrancy, Windhoek is a city where manicured gardens meet the vast, sun-drenched landscapes of the surrounding Khomas Highland plateau. Windhoek offers you a great base for your first luxurious night in Namibia.

Where you could stay
Days 2–5
Sossusvlei safari
The towering rust–red sand dunes and clay pans that belong to the Sossusvlei form the most iconic landscape of Namibia. Towering up to 325 metres above the valley, climbing Sossusvlei’s dunes promises awe–inspiring views of the otherworldly landscapes below. Located in the enormous Namib-Naukluft National Park – a protected area of desert and mountains larger than Switzerland – this rippling sand sea of huge dunes has been shaped by the winds and the underground Tsauchab River.

Hot air ballooning
Twyfelfontein Conservancy

With some of the world’s highest dunes, all set beneath a deep blue sky, Sossusvlei is located in the enormous the Namib-Naukluft National Park. This rippling sand sea of huge dunes has been shaped by the winds and the underground Tsauchab River. Solitary dead acacia trees plot the old routes of the river, some even from 500 years ago, and when the rains do arrive (January to April) the pans really come alive with yellow devil thorn flowers and the dunes bloom green in places.
Even rarer is once a decade or so, torrential rains flood the pans bringing an explosion of life, where lilies and dragonflies appear, and even birds arrive for this special occasion. Spend your days here exploring the desert sands on foot and by quad bike.

Take to the skies on a spectacular balloon flight over mesmerising Sossusvlei in the Namib Sand Sea, one of the oldest deserts on earth. As the sun rises, you’ll lift off and drift gracefully over the endless vistas of towering dunes and mountains, capturing the desert’s ancient beauty from a unique perspective.
Experience the magic of the desert for approximately one hour, with the shifting shadows and lights creating an unforgettable spectacle below. Upon landing, indulge in an “Out of Africa” – style champagne breakfast set in the heart of the desert. Enjoy a decadent feast and exchange stories with your pilot in these stunning surroundings. After breakfast, a scenic nature drive will take you back to your starting point, allowing you to soak in the splendour of Sossusvlei one last time.

Awake to the incredible setting of your lodge and camp in the Twyfelfontein Conservancy, and enjoy a hearty breakfast in front of the views followed by an early morning game drive to spot desert elephant and black rhino. Other activities you can partake in apart from your scheduled game drives here are things such as guided nature walks, hot air balloon trips and exploring the historical rock paintings and engravings that this part of Namibia is especially famous for.
Days 5–8
Exploring Serra Cafema
Enjoy days in the stunning Serra Cafema region, in the oasis of this mostly desolate and arid region, one of the remotest places on Earth, with nature drives, guided walks and even visits to the local villages of this extraordinary nomadic Himba people.

Days 8–11
Into Etosha
Etosha’s most distinguishing feature is its enormous, horizon-less silvery salt pan that it encompasses, as well as the variety and concentration of game that crowd its surrounding spring-fed waterholes. Nicknamed the “Place of Mirages”, the terrain is extraordinary and a photographer’s delight, especially when a pride of lions, herds of blue wildebeests or desert elephants appear through the haze to stand against this stark backdrop. Spend your days on safari on game drives to spot the impressive selection of wildlife. Depending on which lodge or camp you choose to stay at, there will be a range of other activities on offer for you to make the most of your time here.
