Where you could stay
Ho Chi Minh
Overview
With its French, colonial style and wonderful location overlooking the Saigon Opera House, the Park Hyatt is one of the city’s most iconic and elegant hotels.
Its 245 rooms and suites are sophisticated in design with plenty of handcrafted details such as custom designed rugs, fine linens and huge windows with white wooden shutters that fill the space with natural light. Many rooms come with private terraces that look out over the lush gardens and outdoor pool and they all feature mini iPads and Nespresso coffee machines for added comfort.
Square One offers authentic Vietnamese cuisine which you can see being cooking in the integrated show kitchens. On balmy evenings, guests can
choose to dine on the terrace surrounded by twinkling lights. Opera is a more casual trattoria-style restaurant serving a range of mouthwatering pasta dishes and pizza fresh from the wood-fired oven. There is a also a pastry boutique offering delicious home-made delicacies and a bar and lounge serving some of the best cocktails in Ho Chi Minh.
With some of the city’s landmark sights such as the Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica and the Reunification Palace just a short stroll away, you’re ideally situated to explore this buzzing capital. Alternatively, relaxing and unwinding has never been easier with a fantastic pool and tranquil spa offering treatments inspired by the herbs, grains and fruits of the Mekong Delta.

Overview
A stylish new addition to Ho Chi Minh’s luxury hotel scene, the Hotel Des Arts Saigon is well located a little outside District 1 and within walking distance of the city’s best attractions and buzzing nightlife.
Hotel Des Arts is as much an art museum as it is a top-end boutique hotel and guests can peruse the owner’s personal collection of paintings and antiques that adorn the walls and hallways.
168 rooms and suites all feature chic details, crisp white linen, elegant bathrooms and floor-to-ceiling windows and spectacular city views, but the real gem is the Social Club up on the roof – a buzzy bar and trendy restaurant by the city’s highest infinity pool – exclusive to hotel guests.
Sit back and relax at the sophisticated Cafe des Beaux Arts which evokes plenty of old-world charm and enjoy afternoon tea and cocktails, pluck a book from the shelves, or simply enjoy the live music as the resident pianist tickles the ivories. Vietnamese and Western dishes are prepared in the open kitchen at the Saigon Kitchen Restaurant, where one wall is covered in French Provencal tiles and the others in works of art that represent the harmonious blend of cultures in Vietnam.
There is also a modern gym and sumptuous spa with hammam, Jacuzzi and a solarium for some relaxation after a day exploring the city.

Ho Chi Minh city tour
Discover Vietnam’s commercial centre of Ho Chi Minh on this interesting half day tour. While it is a busy, vibrant city, this tour will also show how Ho Chi Minh is steeped in history with stops at historic landmarks including the former Presidential Palace where Saigon’s government ruled from throughout the American war. This tour will also take you to sights such as the Notre Dame Cathedral, which is based on Paris’ original monument, the Central Post Office plus the War Remnants Museum. Here at the war museum you will have the chance to gain an intense insight into the war through the eyes of the local people.
Private Tour of Cu Chi Tunnels with VC veteran
During this private tour you will explore the Cu Chi tunnels complex alongside a VC veteran who once lived here. Dug in 1948, you will learn how this complex was created to hide the guerrillas from French air and ground sweeps, becoming both their living quarters and hospitals during the American war. As you explore the underground villages, which also served as communication routes and food and weapon caches, your VC veteran will offer an insight into the history and experiences that took place here, from the lack of air, food and water to the Vietnamese’s strength during the war. Your private English speaking guide will also be on hand to translate conversations between you and the veteran.

Sa Dec and Gieng Islet
Discover the French architecture and bustling local market of Sa Dec, including the colonial house once occupied by French writer Marguerite Duras.
Further up river, visit the small riverine island, Gieng Islet, to walk or cycle around the peaceful religious enclave and see Cu Lao Gieng Church, built in 1875 with materials imported from France.
Tra Su Cajuput Forest and Chau Doc
Journey by sampan into the Tra Su Cajuput Forest. The 845 hectare preserve is a colony for 70 bird species including the rare painted stork and Oriental darter, as well as bats, snakes and endangered turtles.
You’ll then sail onward to the village of Chau Doc, which sits along the Hâu River, a tributary of the Mekong. Venture inland to the 230 metre high Sam Mountain, the highest point in the Mekong Delta, and home to dozens of pagodas that dot its slopes. At its peak, sit with the venerable Mahayana Buddhist monks at Long Son Tu Temple for a private audience, before visiting the Temple of Lady Xu at the foot of the mountain.

An exploration of Phnom Penh
Disembark the Aqua Mekong to discover Phnom Penh in a tuk-tuk that will take you to this historic city’s most important sites, including the 1866 Royal Palace that is still home to the reigning monarch and its Silver Pagoda. Just next door, the National Museum of Cambodia houses the world’s largest collection of Khmer art.
Khmer riverside life
Embark by skiff to visit Koh Chen, or ‘Chinese Island’ in Khmer, before exploring the floating village of Kampong Chhnang, meaning Port of Pottery. Archaeological findings here link this now sleepy area as far back as the Dvaravati kingdom, dating to the 6th through 11th centuries when Kampong Chhnang was an important trade centre.
Riverbank villages
Explore the remote communities around the Tonle Sap River, an ecological hot spot designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1997. Sail to a range of villages, from Chnok Tru, which is as photogenic as it is remote and thus completely self-sufficient, to Moat Kla, the last village in Siem Reap Province on the southeastern end of the lake.
Head into the 22,000-hectare Prek Toal Core Bird Reserve on Tonle Sap Lake, one of the largest freshwater bodies in Asia and the last refuge in Southeast Asia for large waterbirds like the spot-billed pelicans, visiting floating houses and fish farms along the way.
Two nights in Siem Reap
Made famous by its proximity to the legendary Temple of Angkor Wat, Siem Reap offers a step into the crumbling world of the lost Khmer Empire. Whilst Siem Reap has its charms, the showpiece is naturally Angkor. Encircled by tropical forest, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is adorned with grand lotus towers and ornate carvings and reigns as the largest religious monument in the World. We also recommend exploring the bustling market areas, vibrant pub streets and surrounding countryside of Siem Reap.
