MACq 01 sits in the heart of the harbour in the charming city of Hobart and is designed to be a true reflection of Tasmania, inspired by its people, culture and character.

There are 114 rooms and suites, each one  linked to a real character central to the story of Tasmania. Everyone from heroes and villains to explorers and inventors is represented and these people are divided into five categories: hearty and resilient, fighting believers, grounded yet exceptional, curious and creative, and colourful and quirky.

Rooms are bright and spacious, and most come with a private balcony looking out over the Derwent Estuary or historic Hunter Street. Throughout the hotel there are pieces of history, tales and fables that make up Tasmania’s rich and unique history.

See and be seen at the hotel bar, where you can make your choice from a comprehensive drinks list that includes cocktails, fine wines and local liquor. The restaurant boasts magnificent views of the Hobart waterfront and its decor has has been inspired by the early industries of Tasmania, including whaling, shipping, farming and mining.

This lovely port city has plenty to keep you busy, including the world-renowned Salamanca Market, the Museum of Old and New Art and a host of great restaurants and bars.
