Interplanetary travel may be a long way off yet, but the vast golden plains of Mongolia’s Gobi Desert could convince you that you’re in another world. This fabled land tells the story of thousands of years of history; the footsteps of Khans and nomads alike echo in the dust, with ancient petroglyphs carved into red rock cliffs a lasting testament to their survival in this unforgiving landscape.
