    Carlton Cannes

A legendary landmark hotel along Cannes’ seafront promenade, La Croisette
Exterior of the Carlton Cannes from the Mediterranean Sea.

A vision of Belle Époque glamour right on the Mediterranean

For more than a hundred years, Carlton Cannes has crowned Cannes’ Boulevard de la Croisette with its unmistakable silhouette and twin domes facing the Mediterranean Sea. Today this legendary landmark remains a symbol of the French Riviera‘s glamorous Belle Époque. Having undergone a careful restoration, its walls continue to tell the tales of illustrious guests, from royalty and celebrities to heads of state.

Enter through the lobby doors and stand in awe beneath ornate chandeliers and neo-classical columns that rise to meet high ceilings. Other details include flecks of gold leaf, Carrara marble floors and grand stairways accented by lava stone.

Private residences, rooms and suites capture this same sense of timeless elegance. Stay in a sea-facing suite and wake up to breathtaking views of the azure Mediterranean. Arched windows and wrought-iron balconies frame the sea’s mirrored waters and the Estérel mountains in the distance. Inside, a soothing palette of cream and white is the perfect complement to the day’s light. Take in the scenery from your suite’s daybed, watching yachts drift across the Bay of Cannes.

The Riviera restaurant offers you a sweeping sight of the Mediterranean as you savour seasonal dishes fusing the flavours of France and Italy. To dine with your toes in the sand, head to the Carlton Beach Club for long lunches or atmospheric apéritifs while gazing out to the emerald islands of Lérins. Carlton Cannes also features a tea lounge where an expert sommelier pairs decadent sweets with a curated selection of teas.

As you step into the inner courtyard, breathe in a delicate blend of lavender, jasmine and orange. A sense of calm washes over you as your eyes take in the scene: olive and palm trees framing one of the city’s largest infinity pools. Dotting its surrounding tiers, loungers and cabanas invite you to bask beneath the sun. Beyond the hotel, embark on a scenic exploration of the French Riviera in a vintage car. Stop in the village of Biot to meet master glassmakers who will reveal techniques passed down through generations.

    Les Sources De Caudalie

    Bordeaux

    Les Sources De Caudalie

In the renowned vineyards of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, around 17km (11 miles) outside of Bordeaux, Les Sources de Caudalie is a rural retreat celebrating the best of this Southwest France’s cultural and culinary heritage.

There are 40 rooms and 21 suites split amongst the sprawling property, with most in six buildings that, while looking thoroughly historic, were specially built using huge reclaimed beams from abandoned local properties. Most have a terrace or a balcony with a beautiful view on the Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte’s vineyards or over the lake.

There is also the Village des Pêcheurs – or Fishermen’s village – with 12 suites on stilts around a small lake inspire by the oyster-farms of the Arcachon Bay. Additionally, there is the unique Ile aux Oiseaux suite, a wooden pavilion standing out over the water on stilts, adventurously redecorated by a different designer every 3 or 4 years.

The spa here comes from the inventors of ‘vinotherapy’, with treatments combining the anti-ageing properties of polyphenols contained in grape-seeds and the spa’s own natural hot-water spring in the most tranquil of settings.

The senses will continue to be treated at either of the two restaurants here, whether with fine seasonal French dining and fittingly fabulous wine list at the twice Michelin starred La Grand’Vigne, bistro-style food at Table de Lavoir, or at either of the two wine bars.

Activities from Les Sources de Caudalie include wine tasting, wine tasting lessons and cooking classes. Excursions to explore the surrounding sites, such as boat trip into Bordeaux or to rustic Saint-Émilion, can also be arranged.
