Ljubljana, Slovenia

Vander Urbani Resort

Ljubljana's first design hotel

Taking up residence in four old town houses nestling under Castle Hill on the banks of the River Ljubljanica, a step off the pedestrianised street through the traditional terrace’s façade reveals a starkly contemporary interior.

There are 20 airy rooms, with light colour schemes, bespoke furniture and plenty of light flooding in through the windows.

Atop it all is a wonderfully sunny roof terrace and infinity with views out across the city and a serene yoga studio.

Downstairs is a buzzy restaurant open from breakfast until late, with an a la carte dinner menu using fresh local ingredients to create traditional regional dishes prepared in a modern style and flair. There’s also a bar and wine cellar stocked with the owner’s hand-picked favourites.
