Der Teufelhof is spread across two 18th-century town houses, linking history and tradition with contemporary art and a thoroughly forward-thinking philosophy.

There are 33 rooms split between the Art Hotel and the Gallery Hotel. The rooms in the Art Hotel are liveable works of art, each one totally unique in style. The idea is that guests experience art in a new context, living with it rather than just viewing it on the walls. The Gallery Hotel also serves as an exhibition space with displays changing every year. Interiors are minimalist with crisp white linen and designer furniture.

Culinary treats abound, with a gourmet menu at Michelin-starred Bel Etage, a beautiful space with parquet floors and modern art on the walls. The Atelier restaurant takes its name from the French for ‘workshop’ offers a selection of creative dishes based on local Swiss produce. Take a trip to the Falstaff, the hotel’s wine cellar, to sample a fine vintage or two or to the Paris-inspired bar and cafe, one of Basel’s most popular spots.

Les Trois Rois

Built in 1681, Les Trois Rois is one of the oldest city hotels in Europe. Its glorious halls, rooms and suites carry with them an old-world charm while guestbook names such as Pablo Picasso, James Joyce, and Hans Christian Andersen lend a certain gravitas to its already sophisticated splendour.
