Adventure

Hike, ski, or raft through the beautiful scenery

Snowy peaks and crystalline lakes

The Argentine Lake District is a beautiful, picture-postcard region of snow capped peaks, forested slopes, crystalline lakes and rivers. A stop here adds a wonderfully tranquil dimension to any of our Argentina tours.

This is the perfect place to enjoy the great outdoors with all manner of outdoor activities possible including hiking, mountain biking, fishing, golf, horse riding, kayaking, mountaineering, rafting and skiing.

The hotels and lodges in the Lake District that we’ve carefully selected for our Argentina tours are in one of two areas, either in the Bariloche area (though well outside the city itself and in the pristine nature of the surrounding area) or in Villa La Angostura, a beautiful picturesque village set just a couple of hours drive from Bariloche. Development here has been slight and very well controlled, making this a place for seclusion and relaxation.

Highlights

Hike Nahuel Huapi National Park, centred around the epic lake Nahuel Huapi which is perfect for sailing

Marvel at the black sands of Isla Victoria

Drive along the iconic Road of the Seven Lakes, taking in the epic scenery

Take the cable car up Cerro Otto for 360 views of the Lake District

When to visit

The seasons in Argentina are the reverse of those in the Northern Hemisphere. Spring and autumn are a good time to visit Buenos Aires, which can otherwise be quite sticky and humid. Summer is the only time you can climb the tallest Andean peaks and is the most reliable time of year to visit Tierra del Fuego. Autumn is a great time to visit the wine regions and Patagonia where the beech groves turn rusty red and orange.
