Unparalleled biodiversity in the greatest wilderness on earth
The last great natural wilderness, the Amazon is a truly awesome location that needs to be experienced to be fully understood. It is the world’s largest tropical rainforest, and almost 60% of it within Brazil’s borders. With so much biodiversity, it’s hard to even scratch the surface of this phenomenal ecosystem. A bespoke Brazilian Amazon tour with Jacada takes you deeper, blending expert-led activities with a conservation focused ethos.
Head out into the lush forest to discover the wildlife that calls this stunning region home – with literally millions of species, including over 40,000 plant species, 1,300 birds and over 400 mammals such as jaguars and capybaras, this is wildlife watching at its finest. Your private guide will draw on their years of experience to help you spot as many as possible, taking you out to explore on foot, or navigating the waterways by canoe or river cruise.
With one fifth of the world’s fresh water, the sheer scale of the Amazon River is truly breathtaking. Our favourite way to experience it is on a luxury Amazon river cruise, such as the Tucano. These small group expedition cruises allow you to journey deep into the wilderness in style and comfort, while expert-led tours and activities expand your understanding of everything you’ll see.
On land, you’ll have your pick of some of our favourite lodges, such as Anavilhanas Lodge and Cristalino Jungle Lodge, both nestled in the pristine natural wilderness. Many of the lodges we work with are committed to pursuing sustainable practices and preserving the precious environment, and will eagerly get you involved in their conservation journeys. The dense vegetation means that it’s essential to have a great guide to make the most of your Amazon experience, and Jacada partners with expert naturalists and locals who’ll show you the secrets of the forest, as well as giving you an insight into the isolated indigenous communities who call it home.
Whether you’re travelling as a family, group or couple, our expert travel designers are ready to help you plan a bespoke adventure into the world’s greatest wilderness.

When to visit the Brazilian Amazon
During the dry season, which falls during Brazil’s winter, between June and October, is the best time to visit the Amazon for wildlife viewing and activities. The water levels are lower, and the concentrated water sources allow for better wildlife viewing. The dry season also brings better hiking, and fewer mosquitos.
Temperatures can reach up to 33°C (91°F) during the day time, although even in the dry season humidity remains high. Expect some rainfall year–round, normally for an hour or two per day. The Amazon is also extraordinarily vast, covering 6.7 million square kilometres – that’s an area twice the size of India, and the climate can vary depending on where you go.
If you’re planning an Amazon cruise, it may be better to visit from December to May during high water season, when the Amazon spills into intricate networks of creeks and tributaries which can be explored by boat.
