Chile family trip through deserts, lakes and fjords

Chile is an excellent choice for one-of-a-kind family adventures with natural wonders such as Torres del Paine National Park and the Atacama Desert. Discover the Lake District‘s hot springs and Aysén region, along with ice fields, salt flats and mythical islands, all waiting to be explored.

Go sailing through the fjords or snorkelling off Easter Island in its exceptionally clear, deep blue volcanic waters alongside sea turtles – where you may even spot a submerged moai statue along the way. Relive the fun of astronomy classes in the Atacama’s Moon Valley or spend your days kayaking on glacial lakes and rafting along rushing rivers.

Families can also spend the day at a family ranch, where the Rozzi-Bice family will welcome you into their home. Hike gently through temperate rainforest along the crystalline waters of the River Maullín and learn about their conservation work to protect endangered species. For instance, they have been successfully working in the breeding of pudu, the smallest deer in the world.

And, of course, there’s time to unwind too in places such as the neatly ordered vineyards of the Central Valley or on the glistening shores of Lake Todos Santos. Your remote lodge offers the perfect place to recharge after an active day.

We have years of experience creating tailor-made family trips to this beautiful country. Your dedicated travel designer will take care of every detail, leaving you free to simply enjoy the adventure. It’s a highly personalised trip where everything is thoughtfully arranged for you.

    Highlights

Kayak the thrilling turquoise waters of the Futaleufú River surrounded by steep valley walls and dense Patagonian forest

Stay in family-friendly lodges with spacious apartments, flexible dining options and room to recharge

Venture into the Atacama Desert after dark for an exclusive stargazing experience beneath some of the clearest skies on Earth

Meet local artisan families and discover Chilean traditions through junquillo basket weaving and hands-on wool spinning

Head out along the coast of Chiloé Island to spot penguins in their natural habitat

I rank Chile as one of the most beautiful countries in the world. It boasts pure, epic scenery at its most spectacular. Although a slim country, it has got it all – great food, glaciers, deserts and even Rapa Nui. And to top it off, the people in Chile are among the friendliest I’ve met.

    When to visit Chile

Chile’s weather plays an important role in deciding when to visit. Spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) are often the most pleasant times to travel. Expect milder temperatures and fewer crowds across many regions.

Because Chile stretches over 4,000 kilometres from north to south, conditions vary depending on where you go. The Atacama Desert is dry and sunny year-round. And Patagonia is best explored during the warmer summer months between December and February. Longer daylight hours make outdoor adventures easier.
