Jacó, Costa Rica

Villa Caletas and Zephyr Palace

Palatial Luxury at this Helenistic Hotel.

The degree of decadence and regal luxury of the Villa Caletas and Zephyr Palace is not exactly commonplace in Costa Rica making this quite a spoiling if not memorable stay.

Modelled on Europe’s ancient neo-classical palaces with a touch of the tropical, there are two sides to this grand resort: the Victorian style Villa Caletas has 45 rooms of varying categories (the suites have their own private plunge pool and Jacuzzis).

Built in the same design but more Hellenistic in feel, the mansion next door with 7 thematic luxury suites, secret passageways, art gallery and disco, is the extravagant Zephyr Palace.

The hotel’s position on a rainforest hilltop overlooking the Nicoya Gulf and crescent of Jacó beaches is also quite a majestic setting, giving you panoramic vistas from the restaurant’s tables, balconies and infinity pools.

With activities and tailor-made excursions to the nearby Carara and Manuel Antonio national parks, there’s also a Spa offering a range of treatments and services, a private beach, and even a Greek amphitheatre built into the hillside where you catch seasonal events and shows.
