Isla Chiquita sits on an island in the Gulf of Nicoya surrounded by lush forest and still emerald waters. This glamping retreat was created to help guests feel a deep connection to the land and the ocean, something you’ll come to realise it incredibly important to Costa Ricans.

The resort consists of 15 tents each with a king sized bed, en-suite bathroom, day bed and private deck that overlooks the water. Although there is no AC, there are fans to keep you cool.

Enjoy fresh seafood and locally grown fruit and veg at Tía Nora restaurant and relax with a drink at Harry’s Bar which looks out over the gulf. This beautiful region is begging to be explored and guests can kayak, paddleboard and swim through the pristine waters, spot the island’s feathery residents on a birdwatching tour or head out for a spot of sport fishing. If you head out when it’s dark, you can marvel at bioluminescence in the water produced by a high concentration of light-emitting plankton.
