The hotel is made up of six bungalows that house different capacities, along with six themed suites (Pavlova Sweets), all designed to deliver the Caribbean experience at its very best.

Luxuriously modernised, but keeping its Victorian-Caribbean style, each bungalow is carefully decorated with recycled materials, recreated furniture and found objects. Along with different contributions from local artists, each space is designed to awaken the senses of its guests and thus, the natural beauty that surprises them on the outside, is reflected in every decorative detail inside.

Le Caméléon is the only boutique hotel in the Puerto Viejo area and as such, it sets the standard for luxury accommodation.

The 23 all-white, minimalist and highly smart rooms are touched with the occasional bright pillow and feature artwork, flowers, as well as plasma televisions and iPod docks. Wi-Fi runs throughout the hotel. With private patios looking onto the encroaching jungle flora, the clashing contrast of the hotel’s modernity against the wild enveloping nature is triumphant and somewhat reminiscent of the sophisticated Miami hotel style.

Caméléon has plenty of really helpful staff as well as activities such as coral reef diving and wildlife expeditions to the nearby nature and marine reserves of Gandoco-Manzanillo and the Cahuita National Park.

The grounds boast a jungle-green pool bordered by wicker canoe-like sun loungers. Follow the network of wood-decked paths through the thick emerald foliage and you’ll arrive at the hotel’s chic restaurant and bar. Another short walk through this tropical labyrinth opens out onto a palm tree grove replete with sun beds, loungers, hammocks and a beach bar right on Puerto Viejo’s most pristine Cocles beach. The hotel also offers massages and beauty treatments in the spa and the restaurant with its ‘chameleon’ colour-changing lights serves delicious modern international cuisine.
