Facilities & services

  • Seven twin rooms
  • Two single rooms

Located right at the bottom of Apu Ausangate, Machuraccay Tambo is amongst highest lodges in the world at a breathtaking 4,814 m (15,797 feet), and is also used as the base camp to climb the Ausangate itself. Not only does the lodge offer a spectacular view towards the snow capped sacred mountain, but it is also surrounded by rocks, which are inhabited by adorable wild vizcachas (a member of the chinchilla family), who have become accustomed to human presence.

The lodge consists of 9 guest rooms, accommodating up to 16 guests. Relax after your long hike in your comfortable relaxing room. The decor is traditionally in-keeping with the Andean landscape, using a terracotta colour palate to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The architecture of the lodge similarly echoes the ecological criteria of the local area, using natural resources such as stone and terracotta tiling.

During your stay breakfast and dinner will be served by the lodge’s private chef. You will dine on local cuisine, which is not only delicious and rich in flavour, but essentially nutritious allowing you to build up strength for the following day’s hike.
