After 10 years of working with different schools and programs, Sol y Luna opened the Sol y Luna Intercultural School, providing educational services to a number of local students. The hotel recently started another initiative, Sol y Luna Home, which provides a safe home for children without a family or who are victims of violence.

This 16th century Hispanic casona (mansion) is now the home of Hotel Monasterio in what was once called the Silver City. The 36 luxury suites are decorated in simple vintage elegance in homage to its colonial heritage with ornate bed frames stood against vibrantly painted walls. Monasterio’s grand dining halls, chandeliers, vermillion arched courtyard and a roof terrace named after the Archangel Gabriel leaves one in no doubt that this hotel takes great pleasure in maintaining its historical legacy and opulent past.
