Days 1–3

Two nights in Santiago

The most striking feature of Santiago is its position on the Central Valley, with the Andes providing an amazing backdrop as they loom majestically on the horizon to the east. Home to over 40% of the Chilean population, the city is abuzz with activity, and over the past decade has transformed itself from a necessary stopover to a cultural nucleus, pulsing with creativity. You’ll have our list of recommended restaurants and attractions to make sure you make the most of your time here.

Travel to nearby Valparaiso for a half day guided tour of this delightful port city with UNESCO status with an expert local guide. Take in the important historical and cultural attractions at your own pace, stopping to admire the eclectic street art that this city is famous for.

Days 3–7

Four days exploring Torres del Paine

The national park of Torres del Paine and its surroundings are one of the most spectacular and unique places in the world. Rising from sea level to a height of almost 3000 metres, the granite peaks that make up the ‘Torres’ would be a truly breath-taking sight on their own. However, when they’re joined with turquoise glacial lagoons, icebergs, snow-capped mountains, endless fjords, forest and rushing rivers all overseen by condors, pumas and vicunas, it becomes something truly special and, for many, the sole reason that they visit Chile.

Depending on the lodgings you have a chosen and your family’s preferences, a program of activities featuring a whole host of different and diverse ways to explore and encounter Torres del Paine for all ages is on offer so you can all make the absolute most of your stay here.

Puma Tracking

Hiking in Torres del Paine National Park, Chile

Hiking

Torres del Paine is renowned for having some of the most scenic hiking routes in the world, such as the iconic W trek. Set out solo or with a private guide to discover the majesty of these awe–inspiring landscapes, choosing from a variety of routes to suit all fitness levels and abilities.

Puma Tracking

Watch one of the world’s largest cats prowl across the Patagonian Steppe. Puma tracking takes place at sunrise and sunset to coincide with the times of day when Torres del Paine’s pumas are most active. Our local experts know the lay of the land better than anyone, and are familiar with puma habits, the routes they routinely take, and the ‘hotspots’ where they rest or raise their cubs.

Days 7–10

Three nights in North Aysén

Located in the heart of Chilean Patagonia, North Aysén is known for its dramatic fjords, turquoise rivers and vast temperate rainforests, showcasing some of the most spectacular scenery in South America. Adventure seekers will find North Aysén to be a haven for outdoor activities. The region’s rivers, including Baker and Futaleufú, are prime destinations for rafting and kayaking. Hiking trails abound, from accessible paths in national parks like Cerro Castillo to challenging treks that lead to breathtaking viewpoints.

The rushing waters of the Futaleufu river are perfect for a kayaking or rafting excursion. Your guide will accompany the whole process, showing you how to paddle and helping you navigate the thrilling whitewater. Depending on ability, you can tackle more difficult or steeper sections of the river, taking in the stunning views as you go.

Hiking

There are a multitude of hiking routes throughout the North Aysén region. Our favourite is the Carretera Austral (Southern Highway) which weaves a scenic journey through lush valleys, towering mountains and secluded villages. Your guide can advise on the best routes for all fitness levels.

Fly Fishing

A flourishing trout population in North Aysén’s lakes and rivers makes it the perfect place for a spot of fly fishing. Stride out into the serenity of your surroundings and spend a day just you and the water in search of both brown and rainbow trout.

Days 10–13

Out of this world encounters in Atacama

The driest desert on earth, the Atacama is renowned for its otherworldly landscapes, such as the captivating Valle de la Luna, which has been used to test Mars–bound NASA rovers. Its rugged landscapes are sculpted by volcanoes, vividly coloured lagoons, salt flats and geysers.

The remote oasis town of San Pedro de Atacama forms a central hub, and from here you can venture out to explore the wilderness on foot, horseback, mountain bike, or 4WD.
