Days 1–4
An introduction to Brazil in Rio de Janeiro
Beginning in the world-famous city of Rio de Janeiro, with its dramatic location sandwiched between lush green mountains and white sandy beaches, you’ll discover one of the most energetic cities in the world.
Spending three days in this ‘Marvellous City’, you can explore at your leisure. As Brazil’s second largest city, Rio de Janeiro is often mistaken as its capital for the richness of culture found here. With manmade sights of significance, such as Christ the Redeemer and the stadium of Maracanã, and spectacles of natural beauty like Sugar Loaf Mountain and Copacabana Beach, there’s plenty to fill your time and make your stay in Rio de Janeiro one to remember.

Stand-up paddlebarding on the southern beaches
Far from the centre and other urban suburbs, you’ll take a narrow and beautiful road along a preserved area to reach some fantastic, almost deserted on weekdays beaches, like Reserva, Recreio Pontal, Macumba, Prainha and Grumari. Your final stop will be the Barra de Guaratiba area, where you’ll go stand up paddle boarding across the mangroves of Restinga da Marambaia natural reserve.

A romantic sunrise picnic on Corcovado
Before dawn, you’ll be driven up Corcovado Mountain – home to the famous Christ statue – for a private picnic breakfast as you watch the sun rise over Rio de Janeiro.

Discover Rio by night
Your guide will meet you at your hotel in the evening to take you out for a night on the town. You’ll visit the best bars, including Rio Scenarium, for some drinks and light food, as well as live music and dancing.
Days 4–7
Sun-kissed Paraty on the Costa Verde
Next up is one of the most charming, colonial towns on the Costa Verde coast. Paraty is a Brazilian gem set by a picturesque bay and provides the ideal blend of culture and coast, offering exploration around the waters of inviting sun-kissed shores, while also boasting an atmospheric colonial town full of pretty architecture and impressive landmarks.
Your Travel Designer will be able to arrange a tour that allows you to understand its history, or perhaps you would like to visit a local cachaca farm to learn how they make their famous sugar cane rum, board a schooner boat trip or simply take time out to relax.

Guided walking tour of Paraty
Differing from other colonial cities, Paraty’s architecture has lots of character – irregular sidewalks, decorated walls, wrought-iron balconies and freemasonry hark back to the past. Today, Paraty today is a UNESCO site thanks to the fact that 65% of the municipal area is inside the national park of Serra da Bocaina. On this tour, local guides will tell legends and stories of the last century and you’ll visit churches (Matriz, Santa Rita, Do Rosário e Das Dores), museums, the House of Culture and other points of interest.

A speedboat tour of the Costa Verde coast
Explore the stunning beaches, deserted coves, islands, rainforest fringes and underwater aquarium of Paraty’s coast aboard a speedboat.
Days 7–11
Chic Bahia beaches in Trancoso
Trancoso is a mix of relaxed, beautiful beaches and genuine village life mixing effortlessly with a taste of Brazil’s rewarding and diverse cuisine – this is what makes this quaint former fishing village on the stunning Bahian coast one of our favourite beach destinations in Brazil.

Where you could stay
Bike tour through Buffalo Valley to Itaquena Beach

Your host will meet you in the morning for an exciting bike ride to Itaquena Beach, located south of Trancoso. After crossing dirt roads and lots of forest, you’ll reach Itaquena Farm, a buffalo breeding area. It’s a huge area, very rich in wild vegetation and the perfect place for cycling. Explore the area by bike for a couple of hours, and discover the wonderful scenery of Buffalos Valley. Reaching the highest point of the cliffs, you’ll be able to observe not only the immense valley, but also the beautiful string of beaches sheltered by the region. You’ll then head on trails through the woods, which will lead you to the beautiful beach of Itaquena where an invigorating swim awaits.
Days 11–12
Your final night back in Rio de Janeiro
Enjoy a final evening in lively Rio de Janeiro, soaking up the city’s fantastic atmosphere as you experience another insight into delicious Brazilian cuisine and have the opportunity to once again sample the city’s famous nightlife.
