Discover the incredible Maya past and beautiful present of Belize – with a sojourn across the border in Guatemala – on this luxury adventure.
Begin with three nights at the wonderful Lamanai Oupost Lodge in Orange Walk, a lush region home to the Maya city of Lamanai as well as rivers and forests brimming with wildlife.
Next head to the idyllic Gaïa River Lodge in the rugged Mountain Pine Ridge, a nature reserve close to the enigmatic Actun Tunichil Mukna caves and monumental archaeological site at Xunantunich, both of which you’ll get to explore.
From here, drive across the border into Guatemala for an unforgettable sunset at the rarely visited Yaxha soundtracked by whooping howler monkeys and tropical birdsong. Spend two nights nearby at Francis Ford Coppola’s La Lancha lodge, with a full day spent amongst the towering pyramids of Tikal.
Finally, enjoy a final three days kicking back on the sands of Ambergris Caye, Belize’s biggest island and most popular beach destination.

A true adventure destination hidden away in this Caribbean pine and broad leaf forest region of Belize, spend your days exploring the flora and creatures who call Mountain Pine Ridge home. Daily activities will depend on your chosen lodgings, but most include hiking trails, trekking, mountain biking, bird watching tours and visiting Mayan sites.
Your guide and instructor will collect you from your hotel and drive you to the Actun Tunichil Mukna caves for a full day's exploration of them with picnic lunch.
Venture out in to the forests to spot some of the incredible tropical and endemic species that can be found here.
You will head to the Mopan river where the vehicle will transfer onto a hand cranked ferry to travel across the river as there is no bridge! From here there is a short drive to arrive at Xunantunich Maya archaeology site. Here you will receive an informative guided tour of this small, picturesque & fascinating site and can enjoy amazing vistas of the surrounding rainforest landscape from atop the main temple.

Tikal
Head to Yaxha National Park where you’ll enjoy a private guided tour of this lesser visited site. The city was once home to around 40,000 people and its 400-plus structures include five acropolises, two astronomical towers and three ball courts. The area is rich in wildlife and you’ll enjoy the sights and sounds of howler and spider monkeys as well as colourful tropical birds. Enjoy sunset drinks at the end of the tour on top of the main temple, with views over the surrounding rainforest and nearby Lake Yaxha. You’ll then trek back through the jungle with torches as it starts to get dark, perhaps spotting some nocturnal wildlife along the way.

Enjoy a private guided tour of the Tikal site with its fabulous temples that rise up through the jungle canopy. History will come to life as you discover the ruins, which are dominated by five enormous pyramids, rising to more than 60m. Many structures are wrapped in giant roots and partially hidden beneath mounds of earth, making this site ripe for exploring. Keep your eyes peeled for tropical birds and monkeys. After a restaurant lunch, explore the museum before heading back to your hotel.

Take a boat up the coast from Ambergris Caye to Mexico Rocks where an beautiful collection of Star, Elk Horn Coral, and Staghorn corals are colonised by lobsters, rays, eels and colourful juvenile fish. Shallow and protected by the barrier reef from ocean swells, this site is great for novice snorkellers with excellent visibility. Lunch is will be a wonderful BBQ cooked up on the beach.
