      Itinerary in detail

Every Jacada trip is tailored to your personal preferences and interests. Below you’ll find a sample itinerary to inspire your own custom-designed journey.

      Days 1–4

Three nights of luxury in Mexico City

Enjoy time in this megalopolis with its fabulous selection of museums, art galleries and public parks. Mexico City is also famous for its food – sample tostadas, authentic Mexico City tacos and filled tortas at local food markets, or dine in one of the city’s many haute cuisine restaurants.

Your travel designer can recommend and arrange a selection of privately guided tours, including a full-day exploring Mexico City’s historic city centre, visiting renowned landmarks such as the Zócalo Plaza and its surrounding buildings – the National Palace, the Metropolitan Cathedral, and the Palace of Fine Arts.

      Teotihuacan Archaeological Site

The remarkable site of the Teotihuacan Pyramids

Enjoy a private guided tour to the ancient city of Teotihuacan in the valley of Mexico. This important archaeological site is a complex home to multi-family residential compounds, the avenue of the dead and a small portion of vibrant murals that have been exceptionally well-preserved.

      Days 4–7

      Archaeology and gastronomy in Oaxaca

Spend your time in Oaxaca exploring this ancient and captivating region. Discover the colonial past, ethnic influences and modern-day reality as you visit the historical quarter of the city (Oaxaca de Juarez) with its baroque cathedral that dates back to 1533 and the former Monastery of Santo Domingo, Or head out of the city to Monte Alban and Teotitlan del Valle, hike to the natural springs of Hierve el Agua, or see the Mitla ruins and the fascinating artisans villages of Coyotepec, Jalieza and San Martin Tilcajete.

The birthplace of mezcal and more than seven different varieties of mole, Oaxaca is also one of Mexico’s gastronomic great centres. Nearly every market features food stalls and the city has a number of outstanding restaurants and popular cookery schools.

Market visit and cooking class with a Zapotec family

      Positive Impact

Immerse yourself in the vibrant traditions of the Zapotec people on a full-day trip to Teotitlán del Valle, where you’ll visit a local family to witness the intricate art of rug weaving and partake in an authentic Oaxacan cooking class in their home.

The Zapotec people are an Indigenous group that has faced historical oppression and economic challenges, and through this experience you’ll be directly supporting their community. Together with a private guide, you’ll have the privilege of seeing artisans using traditional techniques to card and spin their own wool before dying it with natural colours and finally weaving on solid wooden looms. Afterwards you’ll be invited into a family home where you’ll take part in an Oaxacan cooking class before sitting down to a sumptuous lunch.

      Days 7–11

      Three lavish nights at Cuixmala

Spend your time at the luxurious, private eco resort of Cuixmala taking in the 25,000 acres of land, lagoons and beaches. Sun-worshipers can relax on a secluded beach surrounded by crystal waters while animal lovers can go horse-back riding, participate in the turtle protection program and spot exotic wildlife. Your meals will be made from the freshest of ingredients produced on the resort’s own organic farms.

      Days 11–12

Your final night back in Mexico City

Spend the last night of your Mexican adventure relaxing in a luxurious hotel back in the capital of Mexico City.
