Birkat Al Mauz is an abandoned village at the foot of a mountain not far from Muscat. Enjoy a picnic in the date plantation near the Aflaj Irrigation System that is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. In the afternoon you will drive up Jebel Akhdar, the green mountain: the Saiq Plateau at 2000m and Diana Point offer a beautiful view down to the plains. The point is named after the late Princess of Wales, who landed here in 1990 on a helicopter to marvel at the extraordinary vista.
Ancient Nizwa and wild mountain terrain
Head to Nizwa and Al Hajar Mountains, in the north and north east of Oman, with the wildest and highest terrain in the country, and spectacular stargazing. The ancient city of Nizwa is known not only for its historic buildings, but also for its silversmiths and handicrafts. The Hajar mountains offer some of the clearest nighttime views of the stars, moon, and planets, making the region a must-see for celestial enthusiasts. Spend time with your astral guide learning about the galaxies and see the treasures of the night sky. You will also learn how to set up a telescope before peeking through the lens and photographing the magnificent sights.
Nizwa souk and cooking class
Starting early with a lavish takeaway breakfast, the hotel’s chef will accompany you to the Nizwa souk, where he will introduce you to the rich variety of spices. Omani cuisine is a true play of flavours with its Arabic, Asian, Indian and African influences. After shopping, you will return to your hotel to prepare a two-course menu step by step, which you will enjoy in the late afternoon.
Dhow cruise from Muscat to the Dimaniyat Islands
Embark from the Al Mouj Marina in Muscat and cruise towards the Dimaniyat Islands onboard a luxury dhow. The Dimaniyat Islands are a protected and uninhabited group of nine beautiful islands 18km off the Batinah Coast north of Muscat. The journey there takes around two hours and you will spend a couple of nights exploring the islands; swimming, snorkelling, stand-up paddle-boarding and if you wish, diving.

This modern dhow can accommodate up to 40 guests for day cruises, and for overnight charters it can sleep up to eight people in four guest cabins: two doubles and two twins. Each room boasts an en-suite. You’ll be well taken care of by your captain, host, chef and deckhand.
There are several comfortable seating areas on board, so you can relax while you watch the scenery slip by. Cool off in the large air-conditioned indoor lounge, or find a sun bed to soak up the rays. All meals are cooked fresh on board by the chef.

A half-day trip to Sabatyn Plateau
This easy trek explores the village of the Sabatyn Plateau. After a scenic one-hour 4×4 drive from your resort, you will reach the plateau 3,937 feet (1,200 meters) above sea level then continue to Sabatyn, a village that stretches along a mountainside with wonderful views down to Wadi Al Bih. The village contains a wealth of petroglyphs, stone towers and ancient houses that were once home to farmers tending their large terraced fields. It’s particularly stunning at sunset.
