Alesha Walton

Personal Ambassador

I was born in New Zealand and spent my formative years there, growing up in a country with such natural beauty and unique culture, but quite removed from the rest of the world by long plane journeys, inspired within me a desire to travel, learn from different points of view and experience the world through the eyes of others. Having lived in three different countries and traveled to over 50 since then, I have definitely spent a lot of time (and money!) in the pursuit of travel, and it has brought with it so many treasured memories, and really opened my eyes to the world around me.

The Best of Rwanda's National Parks

To be able to spend some time with the incredible Gorillas, trekking through the National Park to find them and sit in awe just witnessing the endangered species. An incredible bucket list experience!

Chile

South America is one region I've yet to tick off my list and Chile seems like the ideal place to start, I'm drawn to the mix of the Atacama desert in the north, vibrant Santiago and Valparaiso, and Patagonia down south.

Best Hidden Gem

Siwa Oasis, Egypt

It is the Siwa Oasis and a stay at the Adrere Amelall, whilst not for the faint hearted this eco-lodge has no power (the evening is lit by beeswax candles), and is quite the journey to get to the Western corner of Egypt, it is a true escape from the modern world.

My favourite hotel

DumaTau

An incredible setting overlooking a lagoon, DumaTau has some of the best service I’ve experienced in a hotel. Add to this great game viewing and the ideal place for sundowners over Osprey Lagoon and you’ve got a winning combination.

To make it to the Valley of the kings before the crowds, take a boat across the Nile from Luxor as opposed to the longer drive.

Spend you first night in Costa Rica at Finca Rosa Blanca. A great introduction to Costa Rica and a coffee farm, it's also part of our Positive Impact Collection.

When in Georgia visit our favourite locals and their boutique businesses focused on the endemic produce in the region, share lunch and a glass of wine with them.

In Jordan, include Petra by night, this is the ideal first glimpse of the UNSECO site, wander through the candlelit path following the rock formations all to the chorus of local singers.
