Travel has been woven into the fabric of my life for as long as I can remember – it’s hard to pinpoint exactly when my love for it began. From a young age, I was fortunate to experience the world, and my earliest memories are filled with the thrill of exploration.

This only grew with age, and I have spent my life immersing myself in new destinations. Having extensively explored Europe, I ventured further afield, travelling to Southeast Asia, Latin America, and even Australia and New Zealand.

I love being able to share my enthusiasm with others, and helping them experience those once–in–a–lifetime moments with Jacada is the best feeling.

My most memorable trip

Kenya & Costa Rica

Two trips stand out vividly from my childhood : Kenya and Costa Rica. These adventures immersed me in the breathtaking beauty of wildlife like never before. Being up close with such incredible creatures left me in awe, sparking a lifelong fascination with nature.

But it wasn’t just the wildlife that captivated me; I was equally enchanted by the diversity of cultures, languages, and ways of life that I encountered along the way. Each journey was a doorway to a new world, and my passion for travel has only deepened with time.

On my bucket list

Brazil

Brazil’s got it all – stunning landscapes, vibrant culture, delicious food, and a fascinating history. It’s an exciting explosion of culture, from the electrifying Carnival parades to the rhythm of samba and bossa nova. The streets come alive with music, dance, and colourful festivals that’ll make you want to join the fun.

As a foodie, I am super interested in the mix of indigenous ingredients and international flavours. I imagine myself digging into a hearty feijoada, sampling fresh ceviche, or savouring some sizzling churrasco (Brazilian barbecue).

I also love exploring historic cities. Salvador and Recife spark my interest as I get the feeling that these destinations would take me back in time with their colonial architecture and rich cultural vibes.

My favourite restaurant

Cuca

Cuca in Bali is known for its delicious and inventive dishes that mix local ingredients with global flavours. Their menu has something for everyone, from unique appetisers to beautifully crafted main courses and desserts, all made with care and attention.

What sets Cuca apart is their dedication to using top-notch, locally-sourced ingredients. This commitment to fresh, seasonal produce not only brings out the best flavours in their food but also supports local farmers and artisans, making your dining experience feel even more special and authentic.

My favourite hotel

Six Senses Douro Valley

Six Senses Douro Valley is amazing. It’s set in a beautiful location with the Douro Valley, renowned for its wine production, and has panoramic views of lush vineyards and rolling hills. It’s also part of Jacada’s Positive Impact collection, and incorporates eco–friendly practices throughout the property.

It’s one of my favourite properties for food and drink – the exceptional dining highlights local and seasonal ingredients, and the resort also provides opportunities for wine tastings and tours.

My top tips

Food icon

In cities like Seville and Granada, many tapas bars will give you a small bite of food with each drink you order. To enjoy an authentic experience, try bar-hopping for different tapas throughout the evening.

History icon

While many Spaniards speak some English, knowing some basic Spanish phrases can enhance your experience. Simple greetings like “Hola” (Hello) and “Gracias” (Thank you) go a long way in connecting with locals and showing respect for their culture.

Spain is known for its vibrant markets, which are a great place to sample local produce. Markets like La Boqueria in Barcelona or Mercado de San Miguel in Madrid offer a true taste of Spain’s culinary delights, and you can enjoy fresh and affordable meals on the go.

Spain is renowned for its wine, and visiting wine regions like La Rioja, Ribera del Duero, or Priorat offers a fantastic opportunity to taste some of the country’s finest wines. Many vineyards offer tours and tastings that provide insight into the winemaking process.
