My first travel memory is crossing the Pacific Ocean by ship when I was about 10 years old, it took about 3 weeks. My dad was a merchant marine and we went on a family trip from Peru to Japan, Korea and Taiwan. This trip opened my eyes to the world and made me realise that I wanted my life to be as exciting as this adventure. After university and a couple years working in advertising, I decided to get started on my adventure across Latin America working as a tour guide. I went to do the same in Southeast Asia. Today, a few things have changed, but I am still living my adventure and I’m still in love with travel.

Latin America

The best destination for families

Patagonia

I think Patagonia. Being exposed to the vastness and remoteness of this area not only makes you feel connected to the planet, but it is also a place where families can connect while they spend time together enjoying amazing excursions and experiences.

On my bucket list

Japan

I was in Japan when I was 10 years old and it totally blew my mind. Since then I have been planning to go again, but for one reason or another I haven't been able to. I am a big fan of Japanese cuisine and culture I find it familiar, yet completely different, utterly enthralling.

The best hidden gem

Guatemala

This is a place where time seems to stand still. For some reason it still has a sense of being undiscovered by tourists. It's a country where the Latin American traditions, folklore, colours and lifestyle are still as they have been for hundreds of years. It is a place where you won't see many other travellers so it will still give you that amazing feeling of discovery and "been there first" so difficult to find these days. How many of your friends have been to Guatemala?

My favourite hotel

Estancia Cristina

This place is spectacular. It is located right in the heart of Patagonia, near glaciers, lakes and the southern Patagonian icefield. You feel completely connected to the land here and in turn, the generations of people who stepped here. Perhaps not the most luxurious hotel in Latin America, but perhaps one with the most spectacular surrounding and breath-taking views.

Even if you don't dance, a salsa night out in Cartagena is the way to feel Colombian.

If you love football and you're in Buenos Aires, don't miss the chance to go to the Boca Juniors stadium to watch a game.

To get the real feeling of solitude, remoteness and pioneering, got to Patagonia during the shoulder season.
