My employer recently implemented a sabbatical policy which allows for a four week paid sabbatical every five years. With plans to take my sabbatical in 2018 and New Zealand at the top of my travel bucket list, I reached out to Jacada Travel to plan a memorable four week New Zealand holiday. Travel consultant Katie Holmes was a pleasure to work with and was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable – especially given she had lived in New Zealand for four years. Katie spent a generous amount of time helping me plan my four week long holiday – booking amazing accommodations, some wonderful excursions, as well as my rental vehicle. She also made some excellent recommendations for sight seeing, activities, and restaurants throughout New Zealand. Everything was seamless from the upfront planning to my entire trip from the moment I arrived in the Bay of Islands to when I left Queenstown. This is my fourth time using Jacada Travel and they never disappoint. I highly recommend Jacada to anyone looking for luxury travel and an unforgettable travel experience.
At the start I will say that Jacada are not the cheapest you will find, but we initially chose them because of their complete attention to detail, their flexibility and their complete understanding of our requirements and were we glad we did!!!
From the start and throughout, the whole experience was seamless, our every whim was catered for in exemplary fashion and we experienced the best of everything South Africa had to offer, from Capetown, The Garden Route (the Plettenberg Hotel was amazing), The wine Region, The Kruger, Rovos Rail and Victoria Falls, everything was beautifully organised and every detail attended to.
Jonny Humphreys and Angela were just great and we appreciated their attentions throughout the trip with little notes in our hotel rooms to welcome us and offer advice specific to the region, a very nice touch.
They even booked a meal for us at a top restaurant, The Food Barn, on our return from Cape Point and what a meal it was!
We are well seasoned travelers to all parts of the world but without doubt this was the best organised and most amazing experience.
Katie and the staff at Jacada did a great job selecting really wonderful B&Bs and hotels for us. The drivers we had were so informative and helpful.They accommodated us when we asked for something unique–a lunch reservation to celebrate our wedding anniversary, a special garden tour.
However, when we were confronted with dealing with Cyclone Hola on the North Island, it was a little hard to get advice about what to do. We had to resort to making our own arrangements to fly out of Auckland to Christchurch in the wake of the cyclone.

We are frequent travelers who love to research where we are going and handle our own reservations. In planning an extensive trip to New Zealand, I knew specific places and lodges where we wanted to stay in the north and south islands, but decided we needed professional help to fill in gaps. We were lucky that we stumbled into London-based Jane Dumble at Jacada Travel. New Zealand is one of her beats and she got what we wanted immediately – beautiful vistas, great spots for hiking, luxurious accommodations, exceptional farm to table dining, and exciting activities. She not only secured the best accommodations at the places we had already planned to visit, but booked us at amazing lodges along the way that we never would have known about. She also helped us map out a trip with the right combination of domestic air, ferry, helicopter and car travel throughout New Zealand. Frankly we were a little uncomfortable with Jacada’s policy of one overall price with no breakdown of costs. That said, we were extremely pleased with their overall service and we had a spectacular trip. We highly recommend Jacada and Jane’s team.

I would highly recommend Jacada and would use their services again. The only thing we were unhappy with was one extremely expensive hotel they did not come anywhere near our expectations. I believe this had to do with new management.

We had a wonderful experience this February. We visited Sri Lanka, Laos, Cambodia, and Hong Kong. The trip was planned with Kate
Herz at Jacada Travel. She did an amazing job creating a month of memorable activities. The guides and drivers she engaged were professional and knowledgeable about the countries and sights that they shared with us. Kate mixed up the transportation and we experienced planes, trains, boats, tuk tuks, kayaks, and the automobile. The hotels we stayed at were all lovely with wonderful service and food. This was our second trip with Kate and with Jacada. Last year we had an incredible 26 days in Myanmar. I can’t wait to plan our next adventure with Jacada! We experienced a “dream”-trip to Asia called Temples, Terraces and Angkor Wat with Jacada Travel. The organization, travel guides and special details made this trip extra special for us. We could enjoy our time thoroughly without the usual hassles experienced whilst traveling.
We planned, booked and recently returned from a trip to Australia with Katie Holmes and it was magical! This trip, for a milestone birthday, was a once in a lifetime dream. The reason we chose Katie and Jacada was the experience and knowledge of our destinations and the relationship we built with her along the way. We did not want to miss a thing nor waste time on the trip, but we did not want to feel rushed and frantic about it We wanted to have the assurance that we saw the things that we weighted heavily as “ must do’s” along with a professional’s point of view on must do things from their experiences. And we wanted a five star experience.
Planning phase was methodical with lots of dialog and emails and once we had the basic framework of the trip, Katie mapped out the order of things which was a huge benefit. We had flexibility with a couple of outings that we wanted to book ourselves. Katie worked with an in country travel company for flights which worked very well and when we invited friends to join 6 months after our trip was booked she made those arrangements which meant changing dates slightly. We had something like 8 in country flights. There were LOTS of logistics.
I would sum it up as trust. Although we had a couple of hiccups along the way, Katie took care of us. Katie also had firsthand experience with each and every one of our hotels as she has stayed many times at each so the recommendations are from personal experience. Similarly with restaurants. We spent the time to plan a trip with a company and a person that we had the confidence in to deliver the trip of our dreams. So much so that we will be booking an Asia trip with Katie and Jacada for 2019!

I can’t say enough about our Jacada experience. Our trip was fantastic. 5 countries and flights. It was smooth sailing. Hotels were fantastic. As were our guides and drivers. A couple hiccups but nothing that slowed us down. Two of our dinner reservations were not under our name. Our guide in one city gave us the travel company it was under. The other, I had no idea, but we did get into the restaurant. Those were the biggest issues. I do think Jacada should take note of this for other travelers. Other than this, our trip was flawless.
Worked with George from Jacada over the past year on a trip to Antarctica and he was fantastic! Always enthusiastic and professional. Even after arriving in Buenos Aires and an unexpected storm hit the Drake Passage and we were unable to cross and see Antarctica, George worked quickly to arrange a back up itinerary and helped us enjoy our time in Argentina and Chile. Will definitely travel with Jacada again in the future!
Jacada Travel was really great to work with and helped me plan an amazing honeymoon. They were knowledgeable and responsive throughout the planning stages of my trip. They also offer unique, private excursions and activities that sets them apart from other travel agencies. During my trip, they were very thoughtful in adding little personal touches (such as having floral arrangements and welcome notes at each of the hotels) to make our trip extra special. They were also very helpful during a food poisoning incident that happened while we were abroad. They really do take care of everything and all the details from the moment you arrive until the moment that you leave. We had a fantastic experience with Jacada. Katie was so helpful right from the beginning to help us narrow down where we should go in New Zealand. The representative for the agency that was tasked with organising our holiday was very attentive to our thoughts, ideas and interests. Having our holiday planned minimised any stress with planning and maximised what we managed to do activity-wise, whilst we were enjoying ourselves.
In country support throughout our stay was also excellent and allowed us to relax and enjoy ourselves…a very pleasant and personally tailored service.
The one small “niggle” that did occur during our holiday was some erratic driving that resulted in my family feeling scared and travel sick. In itself, I understand this was out of the control of Jacada and we reported our experience. As a result I decided to pay additional to fly to the next destination instead of drive…only to be picked up for the transfer from hotel to the airport by the same driver, with the same driving.
My family and I had the most amazing time in NZ. The memories will last a lifetime. My 6 year old was amazed by all of the wonderful places we stayed and activities we did. The whole trip was planned by Katie and Matthew. I wholeheartedly recommend using Jacada for all your travel needs. Katie and Matthew were extremely professional and helpful throughout the entire process. Katie left us handwritten notes at each location with suggestions. We were so pleased that we are working with Jacada again to set up my Husband’s 40th bday!

I used Jacada to put together an 8-day trip to Costa Rica for my mother’s 70th birthday. Overall, they put together a fantastic trip. The three places they chose within Costa Rica were all superb destinations, given the kinds of things we wanted to do. The hotels were very luxurious, with great service. The activities were terrific. And, the guides and drivers they arranged were all on time, professional, friendly and knowledgeable.
Jacada’s service and communication prior to the trip was impeccable. They asked a lot of questions about each of the people on the trip, so they could design a trip that would meet everyone’s needs. They were able to work within our budget. And, they were highly communicative, such that we had no anxiety about what the trip held in store or what to do at any point.
I only had two fairly minor qualms. On one leg of the trip, there were a few activities that were not quite as described in the communication materials they sent us beforehand. I take it this was an issue with Travel Excellence, Jacada’s partner on the ground in this area of Costa Rica, but nonetheless, the descriptions were a bit off. And, there was one activity we wound up not doing due to natural circumstances (the turtles just weren’t hatching that week!), which is obviously not their fault, but I had to chase them down for a refund two weeks later. They should have been proactive about providing that.
Overall though, we had a great trip that everyone, ages 11-70, really enjoyed.
My Asia travel specialist Rachel was super nice, professional, communicated well and designed the perfect trip for me and my adult daughters. She caught my vision so clearly! All the small details were so expertly attended to and that made this BIG trip to Thailand the best!
