Jacada Travel hosted the opening reception of The Noise of Ice: Antarctica by Enzo Barracco, Hong Kong Exhibition on 23rd March 2017 at The Explorer Lounge.
On 23rd March, avid travellers, art lovers and environmentalists all gathered for an uplifting evening about Antarctica, sharing their love of this planet and their eagerness to learn about conservation and ocean sustainability.
The managing director and founder of Jacada Travel, Alex Malcolm, started the evening: “We hope these images will inspire you to travel, to see part of the world that looks like a different planet.” Alex went on to explain that visiting somewhere like Antarctica reminds one how fragile the environment is, which is why it’s so important to raise awareness of conservation at evenings such as this one.
Italian photographer, Enzo Barracco, vividly described his expedition to Antarctica, the dangerous journey across the Drake Passage and how he felt when he saw the first iceberg.
Sharon Kwok, one of the directors of marine conservation charity Mission Blue and the founder of AquaMeridian, gave an inspiring presentation identifying a number of wildlife species that are in danger, and what we can do in Hong Kong to contribute to conservation efforts.
Limited edition photos from The Noise of Ice: Antarctica by Enzo Barracco are now exhibited at The Explorer Lounge by Jacada Travel until the end of May. The photos are for sale and proceeds will be donated to Mission Blue.
